Windows & Doors Before & After in Miami Shores, FL
Anyone can talk about workmanship. Seeing it is different. The photos below show real projects from homes around Miami Shores, El Portal, Biscayne Park, and North Miami. Some of these homes had original windows from the 1950s and 60s. Others had doors that leaked, stuck, or let every gust of wind rattle the glass. What they all have in common now is a finished product that looks right, operates smoothly, and stands up to Florida weather. Here’s the proof.

Impact Window Replacement on a 1950s Ranch
Before
AfterThe problem: single-pane aluminum windows, original to the house, with caulking that had turned to dust. Every afternoon thunderstorm sent water onto the sill. The home sounded like a wind tunnel during hurricane season. What we did: measured for PGT impact windows with laminated glass, pulled the old frames, reframed where the wood had rotted at the sills, and installed new windows with upgraded flashings. The result: the homeowner stopped mopping windowsills after every rain, the house is noticeably quieter, and the windows are now rated for Miami-Dade wind loads. Ed Winslow walked the job personally before final payment was collected.
French Door Replacement After Storm Water Damage
Before
AfterThe problem: old wooden French doors that swelled every humid summer and leaked during every driving rain. The threshold was soft in two places. The homeowners had already paid a handyman twice to “reseal” the doors, and both times the leak came back inside a year. What we did: pulled the old doors and the rotted section of subfloor, replaced it with pressure-treated lumber, then installed a Therma-Tru fiberglass French door system with a composite threshold that doesn’t rot and doesn’t warp in South Florida humidity. The result: no leaks through two full hurricane seasons, a door that opens with one finger, and a subfloor that’s dry and solid. The Done Right Promise applies to the whole job, not just the visible parts.
Sliding Glass Door Swap for a Canal-Facing Back Room
Before
AfterThe problem: the original aluminum slider had a bent track, a broken roller on the active panel, and glass that frosted white around the edges from seal failure. The homeowner had to lean their whole body weight into the door just to get it to move three inches. What we did: ordered a new CGI sliding glass door sized to the existing opening, replaced the track assembly, and installed the new slider with impact-rated glass that faces the water directly. The result: the door glides open with one hand, the canal view is now clear, and the room stays cooler because the old, seal-failed glass is gone. We were in and out in a single day, including hauling the old door away.
Energy-Efficient Window Upgrade on a Second-Floor Bedroom

The problem: three windows on the west side of the house that turned the bedroom into an oven by 3 p.m. every day. The old glass was clear single-pane, no low-E coating, no gas fill. Air-conditioning bills spiked every summer and the room never felt comfortable until after sunset. What we did: installed ECO Window Systems energy-efficient windows with dual-pane, argon-filled, low-E glass. The frames are thermally broken aluminum, which cuts the heat transfer that regular aluminum frames carry straight into the room. The result: the temperature difference in the bedroom is immediately noticeable by mid-afternoon, the furniture near the windows is no longer fading from UV exposure, and the AC runs less. This is the kind of job where you don’t realize how bad the old windows were until the new ones are in.
Impact Garage Door to Complete the Hurricane Package

The problem: the home had impact windows and doors installed several years ago, but the garage door was still the original 1990s door, unbraced and uninsulated. During storm warnings, the homeowner had to park two cars sideways against the inside of the door just to keep it from bowing. That’s a common situation in Miami Shores. What we did: removed the old door and track, installed a CGI impact garage door rated for Miami-Dade wind pressures, and upgraded the operator to a unit with a battery backup so the door opens even when the power goes out after a storm. The result: the garage is now sealed and insulated, the house is fully protected along every opening, and the homeowners stopped dreading every named storm. We pulled the old door and recycled the metal.
A note on safety: if your garage door springs or cables are damaged or showing rust, do not try to repair them yourself. Torsion springs carry enormous tension and can cause serious injury. Call us. Our garage door work is done by trained technicians who work on these systems every day.
Custom Geometric Window on a Modern Addition

The problem: a home addition designed by an architect called for a hexagonal window above the kitchen sink. Standard off-the-shelf windows don’t come in hexagons. Big-box stores told the homeowner it wasn’t possible without special ordering and a 16-week lead time. What we did: worked directly with our authorized brands to have a custom geometric window fabricated to the architect’s exact dimensions, then installed it with the same impact-rated glass used elsewhere on the home. The result: the kitchen now has a statement window that matches the architectural drawing to the inch, sealed cleanly, and rated for the same wind loads as the rest of the structure. Jobs like this take longer to order than a standard window. That’s honest math, not a sales pitch. But the finished product is exactly what the drawings specified.
